INT. MCALLISTER'S BOOKS - DAY

The warm scent of old books and freshly brewed coffee fills the air. Eleanor McAllister, a woman with a touch of mystery in her eyes, stands behind the counter, her gaze scanning the shelves filled with literary treasures. Her two children, Emily and Oliver, are engrossed in books, sharing a quiet camaraderie.

EMILY

(Looking up from her book)

Mom, have you found that new novel about the time-traveling librarian?

ELEANOR

(Smiling)

Not yet, but I'll keep searching. Your father always said that every book has its own destiny, waiting to be discovered by the right reader.

OLIVER

(Chuckling)

And Dad would also say that the library is a portal to other worlds, where you can become a pirate, a wizard, or even a detective.

Eleanor's smile fades slightly. Her husband, a renowned author, had passed away a few years ago, leaving a void in their lives. But his love for books and his adventurous spirit lived on in his children.

ELEANOR

(Softly)

He was right. Books can take us anywhere, anytime.

EMILY

(Nodding)

I wish he was here to share these stories with us.

Eleanor reaches out and gently touches Emily's hand, a silent gesture of comfort. Just then, the door jingles, and a handsome young man enters the bookstore.

DANIEL

(With a charming smile)

Good afternoon. I'm looking for a book on the history of Evergreen Springs.

Eleanor's eyes widen slightly. She recognizes Daniel, the new resident who had recently moved into the old Victorian house on the hill. Despite his friendly demeanor, there's an air of mystery about him, a hint of secrets hidden beneath his charming exterior.

DANIEL

EMILY
